الأوتوكلاف هو جهاز تعقيم طبي يستخدم في تعقيم الأدوات والآلات بمختلف أشكالها وأحجامها داخل كافة المؤسسات الطبية كالمستشفيات، العيادات والمختبرات بالإضافة إلى وجوده في المنشآت الصناعية.
يسمى بجهاز التعقيم بالحرارة الرطبة لأن عملية التعقيم من خلاله تقوم على البخار الناتج من رفع درجة حرارة كمية من المياه في حجرته (الحلة الداخلية لجهاز التعقيم) تحت تأثير الضغط العالي لفترة محدودة.
ويعد هذا النوع من أفضل أنواع التعقيم نَظَرًا لقوته في إزالة أي بكتريا أو جراثيم لاحقة بالمواد بالإضافة إلى كونه غير سام وغير مكلف وسريع في تعقيمه
